Looking for a new brownie mix to try? These Double Chocolate Brownies from Aldi are worth the trip!
What are these Double Chocolate Brownies?
OK, so this answer is pretty self-explanatory, right? They’re a basic boxed brownie mix that’s loaded up with cocoa powder and chocolate chips, which makes them “double chocolate.”
Not unlike any other brownie mix, these are fast and easy to make. You’ll need only vegetable oil, water, and 1 egg to make the batter and some baking spray or butter for the pan to keep the brownies from sticking to the pan.
Where In the Store?
You can find this brownie mix in the Baking aisle at Aldi.
How to Make Aldi’s Brownies Even Better
I made these brownies according to the package directions and like all brownie mixes, these were sooo easy to make.
But, to sweeten the deal and to use up some of our leftover Easter candy, I dropped some M&Ms and Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs on the top of the brownie batter before baking. We’re BIG peanut butter fans so obviousl any brownie with peanut butter is going to be a winner for us.
You could go in so many other directions to elevate a basic brownie mix though! Lots of different types of candy are perfect matches for brownies. I’m thinking things like chopped up Heath bars, peanut butter cups, or Snickers bars!
Chopped cookies are SO GOOD in brownies too! I’ve made Oreo red velvet brownies which are always a big hit but Golden Oreos, Nutter Butters, or even Thin Mints are fantastic additions that will take a basic brownie mix to another level.
I’ll admit that I was a little skeptical about how good these Double Chocolate Brownies would be. I typically make brownies from scratch but when I’m crunched for time, I tend to gravitate towards more expensive brand name brownie mixes, like Ghirardelli, since I have no doubt about taste or quality from a brand like that one.
However, my family really loved these brownies! Yes, I’m sure that added peanut butter from our leftover Easter candy made them even better but the brownie by itself was great!
I was *this close* to giving these brownies 5/5 carts on our Exclusive Cart Rating Scale (so official, right?) but I underbaked them by 2 minutes and they turned out perfectly chewy. Had I baked them for the time suggested on the box, I think they would have been dry.

Buy It Again?
You know, I’d probably buy this brownie mix again. The closest Aldi store to me is well over an hour away so it’s not feasible for this to be my go-to box mix to have in the pantry for emergencies.
But if you’ve got an Aldi store near you, I definitely recommend you try these brownies out!
