Lidl Original Chocolate Chip Cookies

These Original Chocolate Chip Cookies from Lidl might just be a popular brand’s Doppelgänger. Keep reading to find out if they stand up to their competition or if they fall flat.

What are Lidl’s Original Chocolate Chip Cookies?

Well, you guessed it. These are Lidl’s version of the popular brand of chocolate chip cookies.

THESE COOKIES ARE MADE WITH:

  • No artificial preservatives
  • No artificial sweeteners
  • No certified synthetic colors

They are also made with REAL CHOCOLATE CHIPS! Hooray! We love the real stuff!

These cookies are not only as delicious as their rival, but are also half the price!! How can you beat that? They are everything you want in a cookie: crunchy, sweet and loaded with real chocolate chips. They’re also the perfect size for dunking.

In addition to these Original cookies, Lidl also offers a “Chewy” variety of them as well. They appear to be in a red package.

Where In the Store?

You can find these Original Chocolate Chip Cookies in the cookie aisle of your local Lidl store. They sit right next to their competition on the shelf, so next time you’re going to reach for the popular brand, try these instead!

How to Serve Lidl Original Cookies

I mean, how else would you serve cookies? With MILK OF COURSE. These cookies especially call for a tall glass of ice cold milk. Keep reading to see if they stand up to the DUNK TEST.

THE DUNK TEST

Now, I don’t know if this is just a strange thing I LOVE doing with my cookies, but I always put any cookie I try to a Dunk Test. What’s better than a crispy chocolate chip cookie dunked in ice cold milk to give it that perfectly soft texture, with still a little crunch at the end? Anyone else do this??

So these cookies definitely passed my dunk test. The perfect number of times to dunk for me is three, and if the cookie still holds up and doesn’t crumble and fall into the milk, it’s a winner in my book. Tara recently reviewed Aldi’s Chocolatey Chip Dunkers. Check out her review of those dunkers to see how they held up in comparison to these cookies! Below is my picture of the Dunk Test. That drip though!

The Review

Truthfully, these cookies are very very good. They definitely stand up to their competition, along with my own Dunk Test competition.

Being said, the serving size is only three cookies, and the amount of fat, calories and carbohydrates for only three cookies is quite a lot. I won’t be indulging in these as often as I would like, but they’re perfect for a sweet little treat.

These cookies, as you can read in the ingredient list above, also contain quite a bit of different oils, such as Palm Oil, Canola Oil, Palm Kernel Oil and Vegetable Oil Shortening. In addition, these cookies do contain High Fructose Corn Syrup, which I do try to stay away from as much as possible. But hey, everything in moderation right?

Make sure to drop a comment below if you’ve tried these before and let us know what you think! Let us know how they stand up to YOUR Dunk Test?….or I’m still trying to figure out if I’m the only one who does this..?

Buy It Again?

I will be buying these cookies again, however only when I have a giant craving for something sweet, because well, I can’t be trusted with an open container of cookies.

The only reason I took off a whole shopping cart in my rating is because of the small serving size, and high amount of fat, calories and carbohydrates in them! I WISH THERE WERE MORE COOKIES PER SERVING! Otherwise, they are delish and totally worth the buy.

Rating Time!
