Trader Joe’s Ice Cream: Southern Peach Crisp (NEW ITEM!!)

Summer is almost officially here and I’m totally on board with ice cream everyday! Did you know that there’s a new flavor phenom in town? Trader Joe’s Southern Peach Crisp Ice Cream is turning heads and filling cones like you wouldn’t believe!

What is Trader Joe’s Southern Peach Crisp Ice Cream

Hold on to your sunhats, my friends! Trader Joe’s Southern Peach Crisp Ice Cream is the newest and most talked-about Trader Joe’s ice cream that has been released in ages.

If you’re a peach crisp or peach cobbler lover like I am, you’re going to go nuts for this summer treat! This flavor is creamy vanilla ice cream with swirls of peach purée and nuggets of crunchy oat crisp.

And darn if it doesn’t taste exactly like peach crisp topped with vanilla ice cream!!

An open container of Trader Joe's Southern Peach Crisp Ice Cream. Some of the ice cream has been eaten and there is a spoon sticking out of the container. The container is set on a white napkin. There is a light blue bowl behind the container, an ice cream scoop to the left of the container, and a jar of caramel in the background.

Where In the Store?

You can find the Southern Peach Crisp Ice Cream in the frozen aisle of Trader Joe’s nestled among the other ice cream quarts and pints.

How to Serve Southern Peach Crisp Ice Cream

I’m going to warn you: don’t even attempt to plop yourself down on the couch with a pint of this ice cream and a spoon.

Before you know it, you’ll look down from the latest show you’re binge watching and realize that you’ve gone too far. That the bottom of the container is just about visible.

That you’ve eaten almost – or maybe ALL – of the ice cream in one sitting.

Trust me, it happens.

No judgements here though! It’s not really your fault that this is one of the creamiest desserts you’ve had in ages.

But I digress. Just do yourself a favor and portion this ice cream out into a bowl, ok? You’ll be happy there’s more ice cream left for tomorrow.

And as long as you’re putting this ice cream in a bowl, you may as well have some fun with it, right? Add a drizzle of salted caramel and some crumbled butter waffle cookies. Or some chopped candied pecans and some whipped cream!

OR!! Make ice cream sandwiches with your favorite cookie – homemade or store-bought – for a super fun frozen treat! Any oaty cookie, like these crispy oatmeal toffee cookies, would be amazing with this ice cream!

The Review

I’m not going to beat around the bush here. I utterly and absolutely LOVE the Southern Peach Crisp Ice Cream.

It’s one of the creamiest and most flavorful vanilla ice cream varieties I’ve ever eaten, outside of Trader Joe’s Wildberry Cheesecake Ice Cream and my homemade vanilla ice cream. And in my opinion, the ice cream base of a fun flavor like this one had better be really good!

The swirls of peach purée throughout the vanilla ice cream pop with fresh peach flavor and add the perfect amount of flavor boost I’d expect in an ice cream like this one. I’ve been reading lots of reviews where people are complaining that there’s not enough peach flavor in this ice cream but I have to disagree!

This isn’t meant to be peach ice cream and the container doesn’t allude to this either. The swirls of peach, while not overwhelmingly numerous, are super flavorful and they’ll make you want to dig around for more.

Let’s also talk quickly about the crunchy crisp crumbles. The crisp crumbles are the only downfall of this ice cream. WE NEED MORE CRISP, Trader Joe’s!!

The chunks of oat crisp are absolutely delicious but they’re definitely sparse, too. It felt like a big surprise every time I got a little bit of that crisp on my spoonful and I just wish I didn’t feel so let down by this aspect of this amazingly delightful ice cream.

Because of this, I needed to take off 1/2 of a Cart Rating. Womp Womp.

Buy It Again?

I’ve already brought home many pints of this Trader Joe’s ice cream flavor and will continue to do so as long as it’s available!

I’m guessing – HOPING!! – this is going to be a seasonal item at Trader Joe’s and that they won’t just discontinue it this summer. Fingers crossed the Trader Joe’s gods hear our pleas!!

Rating Time!
