Trader Joe’s Mini Mint Ice Cream Mouthfuls

If you’re a mint chocolate fan, you’ve come to the right place. Here, we’ve got Trader Joe’s Mini Mint Ice Cream Mouthfuls: a 2-bite mini dessert jam packed with creamy, minty ice cream. The question is: Are they a BUY or a BYE-BYE?

What are Trader Joe’s Mini Mint Ice Cream Mouthfuls?

Trader Joe’s Mini Mint Ice Cream Mouthfuls are a dream come true for you mint chocolate lovers out there! Essentially, these little ice cream treats are dollops of mint chip ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate Joe-Joe cookies.

So yes, they’re exactly what you think they might be: perfectly-sized mini ice cream sandwiches!

The mint chocolate chip ice cream is the BEST complement to two sweet chocolate wafer cookies! It’s creamy, cold, and so so good smashed between two chocolate cookies.

You know when mint chip ice cream can sometimes be like, WOAH TOO MINTY? Well, Trader Joe’s nailed it here! This mint ice cream has just the right amount of mint flavor going on!

While they don’t say it on the cookies or the box, the cookies here are undoubtedly Trader Joe’s Joe-Joe cookies without the cream filling. Smart move to use what your production line is already making!

How Many in the Box and Per Serving?

Happily, there are 12 mini ice cream sandwiches in the box, which is more than any other ice cream treat I’ve found at Trader Joe’s yet.

Serving size is 4 mini sandwiches but honestly – and surprisingly! – I only need 1 to feel satisfied. Or…maybe it’s me just telling myself that I can survive if I only eat 1 instead of 4. Hah!!

Anyway, do yourself a favor and portion these mini desserts out a little more than the package recommends and stretch your dollar a bit. No one needs 4 ice cream sandwiches in a sitting, even if they are mini-sized.

Where In the Store?

You can find these Mini Mouthfuls in the frozen aisle of Trader Joe’s nestled among the other ice cream and frozen treats like the Chocolate Fudge Oat Bars, Hold the Cone! Mini Cones and down a few steps from the Southern Peach Crisp and Wild Berry Cheesecake ice creams.

How to Serve Mini Mint Ice Cream Mouthfuls

I feel like a broken record by saying that you just need to open the box and pull out one of these treats to eat. I mean, serving these little guys is no different than opening the wrapper of one of the many popsicles I’ve been talking about this summer. Easy, right?

However, if you want to up the ante with these mini ice cream sandwiches, melt some chopped chocolate in a bowl in the microwave and dip half or ALL of one of the sandwiches in the chocolate and let it firm up in the freezer before serving them as chocolate covered mini ice cream sandwiches.

Or, roll the sandwiches in some chocolate sprinkles, like I did before I served them. How fun!!

OR!! Buy a few boxes of these desserts and some Cool Whip. Then, layer the sandwiches and Cool Whip in a casserole dish to make an OUTSTANDING ice box cake!!

The Review

All I can say about these mini mint ice cream sandwiches is how much I love love loved them!

A stack of 5 Mini Mint Chip Ice Cream Mouthfuls. There is 1 mini ice cream sandwich leaning against the side of the stack and one on the table in front of the stack; both have been rolled in chocolate sprinkles.

OK well, that’s not the only thing I have to say. I’m not one to be pithy!

Let’s start by saying that I’m a mint chip ice cream fan. I wasn’t always but as an adult, I certainly am now. I’ve made my own no-churn mint chip ice cream which was bordering on WOAH TOO MINTY (see above) but I basically can’t get enough of that irresistible mint and chocolate combination. And there was just enough mint flavor here to make me happy.

That said, the color of these mint chip ice cream sandwiches on the outside of the box is a little misleading. The photo on the box makes the ice cream look a green, which is sort of what I would expect from mint chip ice cream. But, the ice cream itself is off-white.

I know that green mint chip ice cream is actually made with a little green food coloring and I’m totally ok with mint ice cream that isn’t green but I don’t like being mislead by the packaging. Kind of a bummer in that sense.

A hand is holding Mini Mint Chip Ice Cream Mouthful that has been bitten into. In the background, there is a stack of mini ice cream sandwiches and there are chocolate sprinkles on the marble tabletop.

The chocolate chips in the ice cream were all but nonexistent and given the photo of the sandwiches on the box, I expected way more chips than were in the sandwiches in my box. A little disappointing, but again, not a deal breaker.

Sooooo…because I’ve got 2 minor gripes, I felt like I needed to drop my Cart Rating down. I so wanted to give these Mini Mouthfuls 5 Carts but I just couldn’t. Womp womp.

Buy It Again?

If the mood strikes, I’d probably buy these Mini Mint Chip Ice Cream Mouthfuls again in the future. And as much as I really enjoyed them, they’re not a MUST HAVE for me.

They might be for you though so give them a try!
