Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s Cookies

It’s Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Season! The Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s Sandwich Cookies are back for another Fall and we’re here to test them. Until now, we hadn’t tried them before so we’re excited to tell you all about them. Are they worth your money or are they just another generic pumpkin cookie?

What are Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s?

Joe-Joe’s are the Trader Joe’s brand of Oreo sandwich cookies. The basic Joe-Joe’s flavor is just like an Oreo cookie: vanilla cream center between 2 chocolate cookies.

These Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s are 2 pumpkin-flavored cookies with cream filling in between.

They’re absolutely bursting with pumpkin spice goodness! And not the cloyingly sweet pumpkin spice flavor you sometimes find in some desserts and coffees either. There’s just lots of rich, warm Fall spices happening here.

Seasonal Joe-Joe’s

Throughout the year, Trader Joe’s releases seasonal Joe-Joe’s flavors like Halloween-colored and these pumpkin cookies in the fall, and candy cane during the Christmas season. The Christmas season also brings the Astounding Multi-Flavor Joe-Joe’s, which contains 4 delicious flavors in 1 box!

Where In the Store?

You can find the Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s in the Freezer aisle at Trader Joe’s on one of the two very long cookie shelves. You’ll also see them around the store on the fall-themed displays.

The Dunk Test

After 3 consecutive dunks in a cup of hot coffee – the Two Cousins Dunk Test threshold – these cookies turn a little soft but they’re definitely not falling apart.

So, we consider that to be a Dunk Test PASS!

And actually, I liked these cookies better dunked into some coffee than on their own. Keep reading to see why!

The Review

Well, what can I say about these cookies?

If you like pumpkin spice cookies, you’re going to love these Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s! They’re full of pumpkin flavor but they’re also sweet and a little savory at the same time.

The cookies are nice and crispy, which makes them great dunking cookies. If I’m dunking cookies, it’s usually in coffee, which definitely was the right choice for these pumpkin cookies.

Description of the Trader Joe's Pumpkin Joe-Joe's on the side of the box.

I absolutely loved hot coffee flavor with the pumpkin spice here and I feel like the coffee mellowed the blast of pumpkin flavor a little bit. This was such a nice surprise!

It’s probably the reason why I love my homemade iced pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin spice latte cake so much.

There’s more cream filling in these Joe-Joe’s than you’ll find in regular Oreos, which again, is a great thing. I’m a big fan of cream filling in sandwich cookies and I’m one of those people who you’ll see licking the cream out of the separated cookie.

Surprisingly, the cream filling is NOT pumpkin flavored. I fully expected it was since the cream is tinted pumpkin color and the whole cookie SO FULL of pumpkin flavor but it’s just the cookies wafers that are.

I’m totally ok with this; it’s just an observation I made and thought you should know about.

In any event, we all fully enjoyed these Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s. I think Riley (4 years old) was a little hesitant with her first bite but she decided they were good enough to ask for seconds. 🙂

Buy It Again?

As much as we liked the Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s Cookies, I’ll probably pass on buying them again this fall. There’s just so many other Trader Joe’s pumpkin treats to try before they vanish for another year that I’ll pass on these cookies to make pantry space for other things!
