Trader Joe’s Strawberry Shortcake Sandwich Cookies

HELLOOOOO strawberry shortcake fans!! These are the cookies for you! Bust open that package, take a big bite and let these cookies take your tastebuds back to the first time you ever tried a traditional Strawberry Shortcake!

What are Trader Joe’s Strawberry Shortcake Sandwich Cookies?

These cookies have buttercream sandwiched between two strawberry filled shortbread cookies. I mean, come on, how good does that sound?

The buttercream is strawberry flavored, and the shortbread cookies themselves have dried pieces of strawberry mixed throughout.

Trader Joe’s has put a spin on a time old classic, Strawberry Shortcake. It’s basically a disassembled strawberry shortcake cake. The buttercream is sandwiched into the middle instead of spread around an actual cake. And instead of it being a cake consistency, Trader Joe’s has essentially continued to bake the cake into crunchy little strawberry filled cookies!

Where In the Store?

These Strawberry Shortcake Sandwich Cookies can be found on a shelf down the frozen aisle where most of the other cookies are located.

These cookies were right next to Ube Tea Cookies and Trader Joe’s These Sprinkles Walk into a Sandwich Cookies!

How to Serve Trader Joe’s Strawberry Shortcake Sandwich Cookies

If you’ve been reading my posts, you know that I LOVEEE cookies and milk. I mean, I made up my own Dunk Test to try on each cookie I come across! Call me Cookie Monster.

Therefore, I ripped open the box, grabbed the last cookie and dunked it into an ice cold glass of milk.

You’re all lucky to be reading this post because it ALMOSSSTTT didn’t happen!

By the time I had time to sit down and take pictures and write this post, there was only ONE COOKIE LEFT in the package!! Thank goodness I got to it when I did!

My new roommate dug into these cookies and enjoyed them so much. I’m so glad she left one for me to review!! She’s too funny!

The Review

Since I’m going to speak for my roommate and me, we totally loved these cookies.

As I mentioned above, my roommate pretty much ate all 5 Strawberry Shortcake Cookies by herself before I got a chance to review them!! That should speak for itself regarding a review, LOL.

These cookies were sweet, crumbly and had the perfect amount of crunch. The sweet buttercream in the middle was SO GOOD. How can you go wrong with such a traditional dessert?

They were very similar to the Trader Joe’s These Sprinkles Walk into a Sandwich Cookie. The packaging, the type of cookie and the buttercream in the middle were all very similar. These just had a twist with the strawberry filling and dried strawberry pieces throughout the cookie.

These cookies are the epitome of why I started the Dunk Test. They are the perfect size to dunk, and they absorbed the milk in all the right ways. The crunchy and crumbly outside soaked up the milk just perfectly and the sweet buttercream in the middle was amazing.

No mushy cookie business was happening here. Two or three dunks and you’re golden.

A few other cookies we’ve put through the Dunk Test are:

Please excuse the condensation all over the milk glass, it’s getting humid here on the East Coast, more specifically, Long Island. When the summer months roll in, things get soggy, the floors get wet and damp, the toilet sweats, and yes, milk glasses start to condensate when left out for more than 5 minutes *cue the eye roll.* It’s tough living here, but hey someone’s gotta do it… right? 😉

Check out those other reviews above from the previous dunk tests to see our exclusive cart rating and how they stood up to that icy cold glass of milk!

Buy It Again?

I would buy these cookies again. They were fun and reminded me of summertime.

I don’t know if these are a seasonal item, or if they’re here to stay at Trader Joe’s. Either way, go and get your hands on a box or two of these delicious strawberry shortcake sandwich cookies and see for yourself!!
